Library

The MIT Library provides students and staff with access to the best resources available to support the learning and teaching goals of the Institute. It contains physical items including reference material, books, journals and videos / DVDs, as well as enabling access to online resources such as electronic books, articles in databases and subject-specific recommended websites. These can be used both on and off campus! A wireless network operates in the Library and you are welcome to bring your own laptop, or use one of the many computers provided for students. You will also find carrels for quiet study, group study rooms and scanning/printing/copying facilities.
Friendly library staff are available to help you locate and evaluate information for your study. If you would like some assistance, please visit us in person or contact us on (09) 968 8777 or email. Classes on effective use of the resources can be arranged by lecturers in your department, or by appointment with a subject librarian.
If you’re a student enrolled at MIT, you will be automatically registered as a library borrower for the duration of your programme or course. Borrowing is free, but you must present your student ID card to borrow items or book a study room.
You’ll find the Main Library in S Block, South Campus. There is also a small library in the Manukau School of Visual Arts (Z Block) and a reference library at the New Zealand Maritime School (Quay Street, Auckland City).
The Library has some special provisions for students who are studying at distributed campuses, or enrolled on distance or University of Auckland @ MIT courses.
