School of Mechanical and Civil Engineering and Trades

If you're interested in how and why things work, if you'd like to be able to dismantle, repair and reassemble all kinds of machinery and if you'd like to be able to make new components and assemblies using a whole range of machine tools, then you should seriously consider a career as a skilled tradesman in the manufacturing or mechanical engineering industries.

A qualification in mechanical or civil engineering can take you almost anywhere. As a machinist, fitter and turner, toolmaker, professional engineer or technician, you can end up working on roads, bridges, boats or small components for all kinds of machines - if you can imagine it, you could even end up building it. And your skills could see you work almost anywhere in the world.

If you're ready to take advantage of the high demand for engineers in New Zealand and around the world, talk to us at Manukau Institute of Technology.

We offer a range of practically-based vocational training and education qualifications that are highly respected by leading employers.
